Biography  

Lukas Geniusas was born in Moscow in 1990 and is fourth
generation member of a Russian-Lithuanian family of
musicians . He began piano studies at the age of five. He is
presently a student of Vera Gornostaeva.
He gave his first public performance in 1996 and since then he
has performed with various orchestras in prestigious venues in
Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vilnius, Wroclaw and Hamburg. He
has given solo recitals in Warsaw, Krakow, Stockholm, Berlin,
Hanover, Geneva, Paris, Lyon and Vienna. Since 2004 he is
recipient of the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation scholarship.
Lukas Geniušas has won prizes in a number of competitions
including: 1st prize winner of international competition Step
to Mastership in St. Petersburg (2002), 1st prize at First Open
Competition of Central Music School in Moscow (2003) and a
2nd prize at Moscow International Frederic Chopin
Competition for young pianists(2004). In 2005 Lukas was
silver medal winner at Gina Bachauer International Young
Artists Competition in Salt Lake City (Utah, USA). In 2007 he
received 2nd prize in the Scottish International Piano
Competition in Glasgow. In May 2008 he won 1st prize and
golden medal in the competition Delphic Games of Russia.
